The Arab Spring was a revolutionary wave of demonstrations and protests (both non-violent and violent), riots, and civil wars in the Arab world that began on 18 December 2010 in Tunisia, and spread throughout the Arab world with different consequences. Some governments were ousted somewhat peacefully while other governments waged civil war, or other violent repressions, other governments maintained their rule but conceded some reforms.
