The TV-show Game of Thrones is an American medieval fantasy drama series created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. It is the cinematographic adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, a series of fantasy novels by George R. R. Martin. The action takes place on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos and interweaves several narrative plot lines, such as the succession battles and political intrigues for the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms, the attempt to reclaim the throne by the exiled last scion of the realm’s deposed ruling dynasty, the rising threat of the impending winter and the legendary creatures and fierce people of the North.
#10 Name influence
Since the creation of the show in 2011, the name ‘Khaleesi’ has been registered as girl names for newborns for 146 times in America. The name ‘Khaleesi’ belongs to one of the protagonists in the famous TV-show, Daenerys Targaryen. Other characters greatly influenced name giving for newborns, such as ‘Arya’, ‘Sansa’, ‘Theon’, ‘Sandor’. Even a newly discovered slug in Brazil was named Tritonia Khaleesi because of its pale white, twisted body that reminded of Daenerys’ blonde braids.
