Pokémon is a Japanese media franchise developed in 1996 by The Pokémon Company created by Satoshi Tajiri. The universe consists of a huge variety of paranormal creatures with their own personalities and superpowers that can be captured and trained by humans to aid they in their ambitions. The name is a ‘Macedonian’ or ‘portmanteau’ word, which is a linguistic blend of words, and comes from: Pocket Monster
= Pokémon. The idea comes to Satoshi in the ’90, in Japan, a country in which collecting insects was a very diffused hobby for teens. He later founded a software house named Game Freak and made partners with Game Boy from Nintendo and with Game Link Cable.
